Bitcoin, launched in 2009, introduced a new way of thinking about money: not as something guaranteed by a physical material or a central authority, but as a system shaped by code, scarcity, circulation, and collective belief.

From its earliest period without an established market value to later moments of dramatic growth and volatility, Bitcoin has unsettled familiar assumptions about what money is, who authorizes it, and why it is trusted.

Non Fungible Bitcoin translates these questions into a fragile material form. Each bitcoin is made from red-dyed sugar, a material associated with sweetness, appetite, and immediate reward. In the exhibition space, the works respond to temperature, humidity, gravity, and duration. They soften, dry, crystallize, or change over time.

The work does not present Bitcoin simply as either promise or threat. Instead, it asks how value is created and sustained through scarcity, desire, speculation, circulation, trust, and the stories people tell about success.

After the installation, each sugar bitcoin is removed and sealed in epoxy, preserving a specific material trace of its exhibition history. What began as a repeated bitcoin form becomes an individual object: a record of belief made physical.
